Sculpture Grass No 9
Made from brass
Dimensions 59 x 50 x 34 cm
With this series of free-standing sculptures I wanted to express the grace and beauty of grasses.
The inspiration for this sculpture are grasses from a pine forest. In this luminous forest there is quite poor undergrowth, mainly berry bushes and grasses can be seen. These grasses look most beautiful when their inflorescences dry out in late summer and form a golden mist in the forest. This delight turned into inspiration.
I make ears of grass from brass scraps, which I have in excess – by melting metal. They are held on delicate rods, so when touched, the sculpture begins to dance. It is protected with clear lacquer and placed on a dark green stone base made of serpentinite.
